Cape Town Music Academy (CTMA) and University of Stellenbosch (US) Woordfees, in collaboration with Jazz in the Native Yards(JINY), presents “Jazz in the Quad and Jazz in Kayamandi”. Guests can expect a series of top music events featuring some of South Africa`s most popular Jazz artists.
The events will showcase contemporary and jazz music at the Visual Arts Quad on Victoria Street, Stellenbosch, from 9.30pm every night. For those who are looking for some late-night entertainment, this music venue is the place to be. There will be a cash bar available and DJ`s playing till late after the shows. Jazz in the Quad will take place from March 5 to 9.
Organisers of the event have also arranged another show titled “Jazz in Kayamandi” at Amazink in Kayamandi on March 2 from 8pm. The series of concerts were inspired by Jazz in the Native Yards to allow audiences in Cape Town’s townships the opportunity to experience Jazz in residential backyards. This concept was started up by Koko Nkalashe and Luvuyo Kakaza and is supported by Concerts SA. Singer, Babalwa Mentjies, will be on stage with “The Little Giants Band” and led by the pianist, George Werner.
CTMA is a non-profit company that seeks to create opportunities for musicians and related artists in the Western Cape. The objective is to promote the work of local contemporary musicians, and the development of career opportunities in the South African music industry. Support local artists at the event by purchasing tickets at the door for R100 or beforehand from Computicket for R80. Tickets will be R70 for students and free for festival artists.
