Wagon Trail Brewery is the latest addition to Anura, the charming family-run wine estate in picturesque Klapmuts.

Having picked up numerous awards over the years, Anura doesn’t need much of an introduction. But their new on-site microbrewery is equally deserving of praise.

Launched in October last year, Wagon Trail brews their own lager and weiss beer, with a pale ale and amber ale offering coming soon. Visitors to the Brewery can relax in the spacious new Tap Room or on the deck overlooking the lily pond. The Tap Room is sure to be a hit in winter with its warm, woody interior.

The kitchen at Wagon Trail offers a tantalising menu of locally produced items such as grass-fed beef burgers, pulled-pork sandwiches, fresh salads and breakfasts worthy of a visit too. It goes without saying that these are best paired with a beer from the brewery or a glass of wine from the estate.

A must-see is 12 Pigs Charcuterie, a down-to-earth deli serving up various charcuterie cuts, preserves, bottled items and more.

The location of the microbrewery is on the site of the old route used to service the trading post at Cape Town harbour in 1819. Fast-forward nearly 200 years later and we have a blossoming brewery that is beginning to make a mark on the craft beer scene in Cape Town and surrounds.
