The Mother City has made it onto the FishingBooker’s list of the top 9 Most Colourful Fishing Towns in the world for its renowned, brightly-coloured structures, such as the Muizenberg Beach bathing huts, and its radiant marine life, including the Yellowfin Tuna fish.

FishingBooker is an online service for fishing charters and helps users find and book fishing trips around the world. It is one of the largest websites of its kind. In order to determine a fair and accurate ranking, the website gathered information from user reviews about destinations to find information on the access to quality fishing and the overall aesthetic.

FishingBooker’s online statement attributes Cape Town’s ranking to several factors, including the iconic colourful homes of the Bo-Kaap. “There’s nowhere on earth quite like Cape Town’s Bo-Kaap district. Buildings are painted every color imaginable. Each house competes to be the most visible in town. But Cape Town’s vibrant colors aren’t limited to one neighbourhood. From the jolly bathing huts of Muizenberg Beach to the incredible street art all around the city, there’s always something to bring a smile to a visitor’s face.”

According to FishBooker, Cape Town’s fish are described as “outlandish” – from Zebra to Yellow Tail to Red Roman fish, the variety is impressive and our oceans are a fisher’s treasure trove.

FishingBooker doesn’t fail to mention the remarkable natural beauty, like that of Cape Point, that surrounds fishers in Cape Town: “All that, with the meeting of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans as a dramatic backdrop,” it says.
