A first of its kind, the Big Bug Expo will amaze guests with scaled up animatronic replicas of some of the world’s most fascinating insects. Running from September 20-22 at the Jan Marais Nature Reserve in Stellenbosch, the Big Bug Expo will feature six massive lifelike animatronic insects for guests to marvel at.
Blending technology, science, artistry and imagination, the Big Bug Expo aims to create the marvels of small creatures on a grand scale. The outdoor exhibit will feature large animatronic insects we know well, such as the dung beetle, in order to magnify their magnificence.
Guests will be able to marvel at these mobile creatures up close, while also learning about their behaviour and significance in the ecosystem. A number of live insects and reptiles will also be available for viewing.
The programme includes many fun activities for the whole family. School kids and families may enjoy short insect talks by educators, a big bug display walk through, and a bug train to name a few.
