Seven were left injured and one killed after several vehicles collided on the N2 in Cape Town at 6.30am on Sunday, causing a pile-up.

Speaking to News24, Richard Coleman, City of Cape Town traffic services spokesperson said it is alleged that the accident was caused when one of the motorists drove on the wrong side of the road. As the car was driving in the direction of oncoming traffic, the car collided with two other vehicles, instantly killing one person.

“We plead with drivers to exercise caution when utilising our roads and to always obey the rule of the law,” he said.

ER24 disputes this, however, saying that four vehicles were involved in the crash. One was killed while seven others were injured, and two of the injuries are considered serious.

The injured victims were transported to various hospitals for treatment.
