The Summer of 1946, written by well-known author Alexander McCall Smith, and directed by the acclaimed Nicholas Ellenbogen, is set around the lives of a rag-tag team of wanderers making their way back home after the war. Landing up on the shores of Cape Town, they make their way to ‘the Nellie’, sharing songs and hearty anecdotes over pints of beer. A nostalgic feel-good play, The Summer of 1946 promises a night filled with captivating performances at the iconic Belmond Mount Nelson Hotel.
This is dinner theatre at its best, with a three-course meal prepared by chef Rudi Liebenberg, starting with delectable canapés and a glass of bubbly at the Planet Restaurant’s Conservatory Bar.
