Eskom has announced that there will be no load shedding for today, and that the probability of load shedding for the rest of the week is low.
The power utility stated, however, that the system is still constrained and vulnerable. As a result of this, South Africans may be in for unexpected load shedding at short notice if the system experiences unexpected breakdowns.
According to Eskom the improvement in power supply is due to the return of some generating units both from planned and unplanned maintenance as well as emergency reserves showing significant improvement.
Residents are still being asked to use power sparingly, especially air-conditioners while the weather is hot.
Only time will tell if power outages are on the cards for Cape Town for the rest of the week, but at least for now, residents will be able to enjoy their Monday shedding free.
