Eskom announced that they will implement Stage 2 loadshedding from 10pm this evening (Thursday) till 5 am tomorrow morning.
This comes after the power provider had warned during the week that the system was constrained. In a statement issued two hours before loadshedding was expected to begin, Eskom said that this would be necessary as they lost an additional 3 generation units and had to use emergency reserves to meet demands during the day.

This overnight loadshedding is hoped to allow reserves to build up to meet tomorrows electricity needs. But the provider says loadshedding is likely if the generating units do not return to power overnight.
Citizens are being asked to use electricity sparingly.
