The body of a 16-year-old boy was found on Monday afternoon in Sea Point. This is the third body recovered following the tragic drowning of four teenagers who reportedly got carried away by rip currents while swimming in the surf at Rocklands Beach on Sunday.

The first body, that of a male, was recovered on Sunday and declared dead soon after CPR efforts by an NSRI member. The NSRI was alerted by nearby surfers who noticed that the boy was in difficulty. Another body was seen floatingĀ in Sea Point on Monday morning, believed to be that of the 15-year old girl.

One person is still missing. The persons that originally had gone missing were an 18-year-old male and a 15-year-old male from Burundi, and a 16-year-old male and a 15-year-old female from Congo, NSRI spokesperson Craig Lambinon said in a statement late on Sunday.

Three NSRI stations, a Skymed helicopter and emergency medical services were activated when the alarm was raised over teens since they had gone missing in the surf. Rescue operations are still underway for the fourth person.
