A map has emerged, showing what is potentially the world’s longest uninterrupted walk from Cape Town, South Africa to Magadan, Russia. The route equates to a distance of 22 387km, through a direct path.

According to Google Maps, the walk would take 4 492 hours to complete and includes 187 full days of non-stop walking. If walking for only a few hours per day, completing this walk will take 562 days to complete.

During the walk, you will ascend an estimated 117 693m and descend 117 686m. This equates to thirteen trips up and down Mount Everest.

You will also walk through 16 countries, and these include Syria, Georgia and South Sudan.

Below is a list of people who have walked across the world, but may not have taken this particular route:

Dave Kunst
Dave Kunst was one of the first verified persons to complete an entire circuit of the earth on foot. Kunst and his brother John began their journey in June of 1970, and trekked across Europe, North America, Asia, Europe and the Middle East.
John was killed by bandits in Afghanistan during this adventure.

He walked 14 450 miles total in a little over four years.

Steven Newman

Listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the first person to walk around the world solo, Newman crossed 20 countries and walked some 15 000 miles during his four-year-long journey.

He is currently planning the first ever walk across the entire length of the Great Wall of China.

Rosie Swale-Pope

In 2003, at age 57, Swale-Pope ran around the world. To help raise cancer awareness and aid for several other charities, Rosie took on one of the most adventurous routes to travel the world – Russia, Alaska, Canada, Mainland USA, Greenland, Iceland and the UK.

She wore through more than 50 pairs of running shoes and raised more than £250 000 for charity.

Fyona Campbell

The official record of ‘first woman to walk around the world’ was taken away from Campbell when it emerged she had cheated on a few miles of the journey during the USA leg of her trip.

Still, she completed a walk of 20 000 miles across America, Australia, Africa and Europe in 11 years.

George Meegan

Meegan walked 19 019 miles in 2 425 days between 1977-1983.

He holds the record for the longest unbroken walk, the first and only walk to cover the entire western hemisphere, and the most degrees of latitude ever covered on foot.

He also maintains four other records relating to countries and continents crossed during the course of his journey.
