Popular innovation studio, bar and kitchen Cause|Effect has just released their newly designed summer eating and drinking menu to honour the Cape Town summer season.

Created by award-winning owner and premier mixologist, Kurt Schlechter, Cause|Effect has already carved out their own space in Cape Town’s bar scene as the only bar to incorporate theatre into the experience of drinking.

They are also incredibly decorated, having won the best cocktail bar and best bar team of 2018 in South Africa. They have the largest collection of award-winning Cape potstill brandies and local bitters, vermouth and tinctures in the country and are the winners of ‘Cocktail Bar of the Year’ at the Bartending Accolades & Recognition Awards 2019.

With the change of the season, Schlechter is keen to flex his creativity and bring new flavours to the cosmopolitan space.

“This summer there is a big focus on fragrant and aromatic drinks, not overly sweet tropical flavours,” says Kurt. “Our guests will be able to sample lighter, more perfumed cocktails, often given some sparkle with Prosecco and we’ll be pushing out the boat a little with the likes of our non-alcoholic CBD Spritz.”

They will also be offering a bottomless Spritz from 4-6pm so that guests can end the summer day in style.

The new menu has been created to mirror the city’s mountains, oceans, vineyard and fynbos in both his liquid and edible creations.

“I’m currently exploring the drinks that have a more Oceanic flavour profile to them like the really unusual and refreshing kelp gin we’ve sourced,” explains Schlechter. “I want our guests to feel invigorated and excited by their choices and of course the food is designed to reflect this mood too; our Sushi Salmon Taco’s are flying out of the kitchen and the Cape Atlantic Bloody Snapper is a delicious local version of a classic Bloody Mary.”

CAUSE|EFFECT Cocktail Kitchen and Cape Brandy Bar is located at The Rocket Shed, 280 Dock Rd, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Cape Town.

They are open from Monday to Sunday from 10am to midnight. For bookings call (o21) 422 0266.
