Pick n Pay will begin offering a special pensioners’ shopping hour to accommodate elderly shoppers amid the coronavirus.
The supermarket chain announced on their Facebook page on Tuesday, March 17 that they plan to offer the new service at all of their Pick n Pay and Hypermarket stores across the country.
According to the post, a special hour from 7am to 8am every Wednesday will be set aside for elders to shop. The first special hour will take place on Wednesday, March 18.
“Given the situation with the current coronavirus, it’s important to us that our older customers are able to limit their exposure,” said Pick n Pay on their Facebook page.
This will give shoppers of at least 65 years of age or older exclusive use of the stores to ensure they can get all their necessities before younger shoppers.
Along with this new offering, pensioners will also be awarded double Smart Shopper points on Wednesdays.
