Former tennis star Bob Hewitt will leave prison on April 24 as he has been granted parole. It is believed the 80-year-old will be under house arrest upon his release.

As reported by News24, Tania Koen, who is representing Hewitt’s victims Olivia Jasriel and “W”, says there is not a full list of conditions yet. She does, however, understand that he will be barred from contacting his victims.

Hewitt was convicted in March of 2015 for the rape of two teenage tennis pupils, and sexually assaulting a third. The incidents took place between the 1980s and 90s, while he was their tennis coach.

He was sentenced to six years in prison in May 2015, but was only sent to jail in September 2016 after a unsuccessful Constitutional Court appeal.

After serving just over half his total sentence, he will be released on parole. Hewitt was classified as a first-time offender and his parole falls in line with Section 73 of the Correctional Services Act.
