Today marks day 13 of the 21-day lockdown. Cape Town is peaceful, as the cold air nips through the house and the skies are periodically grey and bright.

Today [April 7], the President punished Minister of Social Development and Trade after a picture posted to social media revealed she had visited a friend for lunch. She apologised publicly, and has been placed on two months special leave. One of these months will be unpaid, as government wants to reiterate that no one is above the law.

There are 8 days of lockdown left, and the Mother City is showing how resilient she is by remaining quiet for the last few days. Stay safe, Capetonians, and stay indoors!

❤️♥️❤️ Meet GRACIE ❤️♥️❤️ • • “She is my heart and soul. I rescued her 4 years ago and adopted her from Wellington SPCA. She just has the biggest heart, loves to jump into water – we live in a farm just outside Malmesbury, so she has so much freedom, and loves jumping into the Dam. She loves veggies, basically loves everything.. She’s just beyond amazing.. She saved me❤️” • • • • • Thank you so much @annaliestofberg for sharing ???? • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • #rescuedogsofinstagram #rescuedog #rescue #streetdogs #dogsofinstagram #dogsofinsta #dogsoftheday #africaneyes #africansoul #outofafrica #love #gratitude #appreciationpost #dogoftheday #petportrait #dogmodel #love #furryfriends #adoptdontshop #africa #southafrica #africanis #africanisdog #africanisdogs #doglovers #mansbestfriend #girlsbestfriend #salockdown #cuddles #the_africanis_dog

#day13 #salockdown fur-babies soaking up some sun ? #muffin our miniature poodle {in the basket} mothered our #bella boo {on the pillow} from the age of 2 weeks – bella was sadly rejected from her birth mother and our muffin-pie had just lost her litter of {2} pups, it was a massive gamble but decided to take a chance and introduced the two. muffin was hesitant at first and wouldn’t let bella drink from her, but within a few hours her motherly instincts kicked in and she accepted bella as one of her own. something most of us only see on TV right? such an amazing experience. I’ll also never forget how muffin struggled to get bella off the boob ? she would literally drag her as she walked – bella loved her milk but muffin was adamant it was time.

Just published on my blog: “Work From Home Tips From Someone Who’s Been Doing it for Nearly a Decade!” If you’re struggling in the face of myriad distractions or trying to make your lockdown life more productive, check it out at the link in my bio or on the-shooting-star.com ??‍?⁣ ⁣ An excerpt:⁣ ⁣ “Back in 2011, when I quit my full-time job as a social media strategist in Singapore, I had no idea how to work from home. I struggled with my newfound freedom and lack of accountability. It was a challenge to be disciplined, meet deadlines and maintain a work-life balance in the face of myriad distractions.⁣ ⁣ And yet, as a newbie freelancer with little to fall back on, I knew I had to make it work. I’ve worn many hats since – travel writer, digital marketer, social entrepreneur, travel blogger, sustainable tourism consultant and author. As a digital nomad, I’ve worked on the go from a wide range of places: Guatemala, Georgia, Germany and Goa, among others.⁣ ⁣ Ever since the on-going crisis put us in a lockdown, I’ve seen plenty of work from home tips floating around. Get out of your PJs, draw up a regimented schedule, wear shoes (really?!), leave the TV on in the background (REALLY?!) and use fancy workflow tools.⁣ ⁣ I don’t know about you, but for me, the best part about working from home is being able to do it in my PJs ? No shoes, no bra, no complicated apps, no regimented schedules. Some discipline certainly helps. But so does the flexibility, and the creativity that stems from it.”⁣ ⁣ My tips include how to practically deal with the biggest distractions (social media, WhatsApp and the news), increase your concentration and keep yourself motivated. ⁣ ⁣ Go read, then tell me, have you been working from home these days and what’s that been like?
