There are now 2506 confirmed coronavirus cases in South Africa as of today, April 15. This is an increase of 91 since yesterday, April 14.

There have also been seven new COVID-19 related deaths, bringing the total number of deaths in the country to 34. Five of the seven patients had underlying symptoms such as diabetes, hypertension and renal failure.

“It is with sadness that we report 7 new COVID-19 related deaths,” said the Department of Health in a statement. “Six of these deaths are from KwaZulu and one of them is from the Gauteng. We convey our condolences to the families and also appreciate the committed health workers who were treating these patients.”

The total number of tests conducted to date is 90 515.
