The annual Condé Nast Traveler (CNT) Hot List winners have been announced. Two hotels located in the Western Cape have scooped up a spot among the world’s 86 best hotels. “These 86 winners represent the absolute best of the best,” wrote CNT.

Three winners from South Africa were chosen overall. The two hotels from the Cape are:

The Gorgeous George Hotel

If you’ve been to the Gorgeous George Hotel, you understand why it landed a spot on this coveted list. This hotel is nestled in the heart of Cape Town’s CBD and sports a stunning rooftop bar that makes you feel as though you’re in New York. From the incredibly friendly staff, to the glamorous interior, the delicious food and luxurious speak-easy type bar, the Gorgeous George Hotel is well deserving of this accolade. Take a peak inside below.

Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop

Natural Selection’s Lekkerwater Beach Lodge at De Hoop is an unmatched coastal escape. De Hoop nature reserve, around three hours drive from Cape Town, is managed by CapeNature and is one of the largest natural areas in their care. Picture this: Sweeping ocean views as far as the eye can see, a stretch of white sand, ample fynbos, whales frolicking in the blue water below (depending on the time of year, of course) and crisp, fresh ocean air. Again, it is a no-brainer that this lodge landed itself on this prestigious list.

It is around this time of year when the first southern right whales start preparing to leave their feeding grounds in Antarctica and heading to the waters around Lekkerwater Beach Lodge to calve and mate. Each year they make their annual pilgrimage, moving from the icy waters of the Antarctic to the warmer Indian Ocean waters off the coast of South Africa to feed and frolic. Last year around 300 whales with calves were spotted in and around the De Hoop Marine Protected Area offshore of De Hoop Reserve, confirming that De Hoop is the one of the most important nursery areas for southern right whales on the planet. With sea views from virtually every window, it won’t be long before the beach beckons from below and you end up with sand between your toes and salty sea air in your lungs. This six kilometre expanse of private beach offers some of the finest land based whale watching on the planet, but there are also dolphins in their hundreds, as well as a plethora of smaller treasures to be found in the many rockpools. Our experienced team will guide guests through all things marine, with bright and beautiful life to be found under rocks, in the pooled water, and of course, out at sea. Top it all off with sundowners with a serious view. #safarisofcharacter #naturalselectiontravel #naturalselectionsafaris #naturalselectionsafari #lekkerwater #lekkerwaterbeachlodgeatdehoop #dehoopnaturereserve #southafrica
