The chilly bite in the air in the Cape is not just due to the rainy weather but rather to the snow that has settled on some peaks along the province.

Just as forecast, some areas from Matroosberg to the Swartberg Mountains and Sutherland were blessed with light dustings of snow that brought chilling temperatures to surrounding areas and allowed residents to spot some truly beautiful snowy scenes.

Some more cold, rain and wind is predicted for the next few days until Friday, according to Accuweather. A severe weather warning was also issued, including disruptive snowfall for today, May 26.

Even residents in the Little Karoo was lucky enough to see some snow. Take a look:

Sutherland got its first snow of the season.

Some residents even managed to capture videos of the snow falling.
