The Waterfront College Of Theatre will be showcasing a rendition of the classic comic opera The Pirates of Penzance, by Gilbert and Sullivan.
Having reached the age of 21, Frederic is released from his apprenticeship with a band of pirates. Upon leaving, he meets and falls in love with a girl named Mabel.
However, it’s soon discovered that the young man’s birthday falls on 29 February, a day occurring but once every four years, so he’s technically only celebrated five birthdays, not 21. Tormented by his own sense of duty toward the salty sea dogs, Frederick continues on with his apprentice for another long 63 years. His only solace is his beloved’s promise of remaining faithful until his return… But will she?
Expect an entertaining evening of song, dance and barrels of laughter!
