A car dropped at least 80 metres into a ravine off Bainskloof pass on Sunday, October 4. Drakenstein Fire Brigade, Drakensten Farm Watch (DFW) Fire and Rescue, and Wellington police are on the scene and a rescue is underway.

The DFW emergency control room received a call regarding a vehicle that rammed through the barricade beside the road in Bainskloof pass. The vehicle landed 80 metres down in a ravine.

There were allegedly three occupants in the vehicle, two of whom managed to climb the rocks back up to the road and call for help. They have since been taken to hospital. The third occupant, a 21 year old man, was still in the vehicle and seriously injured.

The car is in a location that requires a massive climb, and rescue parties have to walk downhill under difficult circumstances. All rescue parties must wait for metro EMS Rescue to get the injured man to safety at the top of the road.
