‘If sarcasm and compassion met in a bar, it might be one of Adrie’s illustrations.’
Adrie le Roux presents her first solo exhibition with The Drawing Room. In this exhibition, she will showcase her latest creation, a children’s book entitled Farah was not a Dalmatian. Written and illustrated by le Roux, the story follows the predicament of Farah, who is often misidentified as a dalmatian, but yearns to be recognised for the English pointer she truly is.
While targeted more toward children, there are lessons in the book you can apply to your own life – namely to not define another’s identity according to your misinformed beliefs and restricted understandings of them.
Le Roux’s work comprises of abstract compositions where she combines an assortment of ink work, pencil drawings, paintings and collage techniques. Her style has been defined as subtle, where she makes use of muted colours and bold textures.
