Police have cautioned against purchasing fake COVID-19 vaccinations following unprincipled attempts of people trying to profit off the pandemic, writes Media 24.
The announcement serves as a reminder to take extra care following the raid on a warehouse last year whereby 400 ampoules of fake COVID-19 vaccinations were seized in Gauteng.
400 ampoules is equivalent to around 2 400 doses.
Police spokesperson, Colonel Brenda Muridili fears that the four accused had already advertised that the vaccine was on sale, continues News 24.
Zhang Jian, 30, Liang Pengcheng, 31, Chen Jianfu, 41, and Charles Chigwedere, 45, appeared in the Germiston Magistrate’s Court on 19 February. They were charged with the contravention of Counterfeit Goods Act, the Customs and Excise Act, and Related Substances Act, concludes Media 24.
