An 8-year-old boy was reportedly shot in the face over the Easter weekend in Manenberg.

News24 reported on Monday that he was struck by a stray bullet on Saturday while playing with his friends.

Police have since opened a case of attempted murder.

A report by Daily Voice said that doctors have not been able to remove the bullet due to swelling.

The report identified the boy as Riaz Cloete.

This comes just two weeks after a 4-year-old girl, Chloe van Der Westhuizen, was struck in the head during a gang shooting in Hanover Park.

Chloe lost her eye and was set to go for a second operation.
