Darlene Candy, the learner involved in a bullying incident at a Limpopo school has been arrested and charged with assault on Thursday, April 15.

Candy (15) was seen on video slapping another learner, Lufuno Mavhunga who has since allegedly taken her own life on April 12. The incident took place at the Mbilwi Secondary School in Vhembe.

“She [Candy] will be dealt with in accordance with the Child Justice Act,” Police said in a statement. 

The SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and Dakalo Mavhunga, Lufuno’s brother, told TimesLIVE that Candy allegedly attacked Mavhunga because she blocked her on WhatsApp and Facebook as she was sending insulting messages to her.
