Daily Dispatch reported that the students, who shielded themselves with mattresses, wooden planks, and roof sheeting, charged at the police and chased them off the campus while hailing rocks.

This came up after they blockade the N2 road near the campus, effectively blocking traffic to and from the town. A News24 report said that police officers were forced to abandon their vehicle and flee on foot.
