#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

Highbury Media’s Legal Advisor, Tracey Meegan is up next to deliver the verdict on her favourite eateries around town. This lovely lady has taste and style that reflects in her top spots. We won’t lie, these are goodies!

Favourite breakfast spot: Jarryds, Seapoint

Excellent Benedict. The Benedict royale with salmon is to die for, they never fail to get the creamy and tangy Hollandaise sauce just right and they are not shy on the salmon!

Favourite lunch spot: Grand Pavilion, Sea Point

The latest spot to see and be seen is no doubt at the Grand Pavilion, a new and much-needed spot on Beach Road, across from the landmark Sea Point Pavilion.

The owner, Michael Townsend, also owns Sevruga, making the sushi a must-try for a long and leisurely lunch, while savoring the beautiful decor on a warm afternoon.

My favourite the salmon roses and salmon crunch rolls.

Favourite dinner spot: Osteria Tarantino, de Waterkant.

For an authentic Italian experience, this little family owned gem is the place to go.

Each dish is prepared with the love and passion you would expect from an authentic Italian eatery. Homemade pasta is the order of the day. My favourite is the spicy Arrabbiata. Don’t forget to start with the “Ferrari” of Italian cheeses. The Burrata salad, big enough to share in true Italian style).

Favourite sweet treat: The dairy den, Sea Point

Soft-serve ice cream and donuts to die for. A must-have for a little guilty treat before a stroll along the promenade.

Favourite drinks place: The Duchess / Harry’s Bar, Sea Point

If you are a Sea Point local, this is the spot you know you can pop in any time (within curfew) and feel right at home. The staff will know you by name and there’s always a festive vibe (the famous sweet Caroline song that’s sung after the dinner service really sets the tone for the evening). Vibey, warm and always festive. Thursday nights are a must.

Harry’s bar, when the sun goes down, is a new spot to try. The decor is gorgeous and there is a Dj that will get you in the mood on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. On a Monday night, they have booked Georgia Rose. Talented and beautiful, she really sets the tone by starting with chilled dinner tunes and getting you on your feet later in the evening. You’ll find this gem at the back of the Grand Pavillion.

The manager has said they are looking at adding more live entertainment soon.

The great escape: Mont Rochelle, Franschhoek

My husband recently treated me to the most beautiful weekend away for our wedding anniversary at Mont Rochelle, owned by Sir Richard Branson himself. For an unforgettable treat where you are treated like royalty at every second, from the moment you arrive, this is the place to go.

There are some great specials on offer due to the lockdown and decline in international tourists, allowing locals to enjoy places such as this which would otherwise not be possible. This really is an indulgence and a spoil perfect for a special occasion.

The rooms are beautifully decorated and luxurious, there’s a tennis court, bowls, swimming pool, bar and rolling lawns where you can picnic. They also offer complimentary shuttle services to the town so you can really enjoy the beautiful wines on offer at the farm itself and Franschoek surrounds.

Not an everyday escape but certainly one I will never forget.
