Two suspects are expected to appear in court on Monday after a robbery at a fast-food store in Nyanga over the weekend.
EWN quoted the police as saying they were alerted “to a robbery in progress at a fast-food outlet in the area. As the police approached the business, two suspects ran away and got into a vehicle. The members chased after the vehicle and subsequently, two suspects were arrested”.
The two faced charges of business robbery and the possession of imitation firearms.
This comes a few weeks after at least eight suspected armed robbers were arrested after they allegedly ransacked a fast food outlet in Lutzville.
A News24 report said at the time that police recovered R30 000 following the incident.
Western Cape police spokesperson FC van Wyk was quoted as saying that the robbers entered the takeaway shop and pretended to be customers.
“After being served, they held up the complainant with firearms and knives and took an undisclosed amount of cash and cellular telephone before fleeing the scene,” Van Wyk said.
