#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

Groote Post is a historic 18th-century farm situated on the West Coast in the Darling Hills offering exquisite wines and food. The winery itself is situated in an old, restored Cape Dutch building. The wine farm also offers farm drives where guests will be able to spot some of Africa’s antelope.

Drives are offered at R225 per person (18 years and older), R95 for children over the ages of 3, whereby any child younger gets a ride for free. Note that bookings do need to be made 2 days in advance, so don’t miss out on the excitement!

Drives begin at 9am and continue for 2 hours. The drive includes a cheese and wine stop in the vineyards that offer an amazing view of Table Mountain.

Additionally, the wine farm has a phenomenal, well-recommended restaurant called Hilda’s Kitchen. The restaurant offers modern country cooking, using only fresh produce that are locally sourced and grown.

The menu is said to be designed to complement the wines of Groote Post. Bookings are essential and their menu is always thrilling, and changes daily.

The restaurant offers picnic platters that are always prepared fresh daily. Guests are able to come and relax on the beautiful lawn and have some wine while the restaurant prepares their meals.
