The Good party’s secretary-general, Brett Herron, has also tested positive for COVID-19 shortly after the party leader and Minister of Public Works and Infrastructure, Patricia de Lille, confirmed that she contracted the virus.
Herron, who is known to be De Lille’s right-hand lieutenant, made the announcement via social media on Monday, June 7. He said he got tested after developing symptoms of COVID-19.
Yesterday I was tested for Covid-19 after developing symptoms.
Covid was detected.
I will rest & isolate.
Please be safe & adhere to the protocols.

Herron told Cape {town} Etc that he was currently experiencing “bad flu-like symptoms”.
“I developed Covid-like symptoms on Sunday and after being alerted that I had been exposed to the infection during the week, I had a mobile test done at my home.
“Currently, I’m experiencing bad flu-like symptoms. I will isolate as per the protocols. I urge everybody to adhere to the precautionary health protocols so that we avoid the spread of the virus,” Herron said.
When asked if his absence would affect the party’s momentum in light of several political parties that have already started campaigning for the upcoming municipal elections, he said he was hopeful his infection will pass by the time they hit the ground in full swing.
“Being in isolation will, however, prevent me from the campaign for the next 2 weeks, ” Herron said.
Good party is currently interviewing its councillor candidate applicants, and with nearly 300 in Cape Town alone, this process will likely take up most of June.
