The Cape Town school community was left reeling after an attempted abduction of a 10-year-old boy outside Habibia Primary School in Rylands.

According to IOL, the suspect drove off with the learner. However, the brave and fast-thinking boy, who was located in the front passenger seat, jumped out of the moving car, injuring his arm during the incident.

According to the online publication, the young boy had been patiently waiting for his sibling in his father’s idling vehicle when the suspect hopped in and began to drive away.

In recent weeks, schools have been placed on high alert following another incident at a Claremont high school. The Livingstone High School learner was attacked by a group of men who were attempting to rob the learner of her cellphone, as reported by News24. Following both incidents, parents and learners have been asked to remain vigilant and to ensure that students are not left unattended.
