#HighburyHearsYou – we at Cape Town Etc are passionate about getting local restaurants back and booming in business. As part of our #HighburyHearsYou initiative, we’re dishing out the deets on some incredible restaurants in and around town.

It seems that recently, Cape Town is dominating the best in the world category of numerous travel publications this year. Camps Bay was named one of the best beaches in the world, and Main Road in the sleepy seaside suburb Kalk Bay was crowned one of the coolest streets out of all the streets in the world. What can we say? We belong to the streets, but in a beautiful kind of way.

And now, one of our gorgeous Camps Bay rooftop bars is also sitting up top with the royalty of our city.

Chinchilla Rooftop Cafe & Bar which gazes at Camps Bay Beach eternally took home 5th place for Time Out’s rooftop bar elites.

The competition was stiff. Imagine all the views that you simply can’t capture on camera seen from the gaze of exquisite rooftop standings, with the sweet hums of your favourite cocktails. The competitors saw Moscow’s ‘Sixty’ which frames some of the city’s most iconic skyline views. L.P Rooftop Bar in Los Angeles which has the Hollywood sign dancing before your eyes, also stood tall. Singapore’s Smoke and Mirrors also graced the list and rightfully so. It is the it spot to get lost in the city’s night glow.

However, our gorgeous Chinchilla still flew above these incredible locations.

“Sandwiched between Table Mountain National Park and the Atlantic Ocean, Chinchilla overlooks Camps Bay Beach, a gorgeous stretch of white sand that’s lined with palm trees,” Time Out said.

The travel publication also expressed Chinchilla as “laid-back and loungey, sporting a resort-chic vibe.” How could the vibes not be immaculate? Chinchilla is the epitome of Cape Town fabulous meets steady chilling. From the view that will have you captivated for hours, to an energy that makes you want to be retired at 25 just so you can live the best days of your life there worry-free, it’s a certified chill-elite.

There’s music (rotating DJs who are always ready to bless our ears), art, gourmet foods (their burgers are arguably too delicious) and they have cocktails which are a mixologists dream.

Pro-tip: ask them for their secret cocktail menu. Word on the street is, there’s a purple delightful cocktail that tastes like a heavenly smoothie with a generous sprinkle from the fountain of liquor.
