The Western Cape could be without any electricity for some time as severe weather continues to hit the province. In a statement by Eskom on Monday, June 28, the power utility indicated that bad weather conditions in the greater Cape Town area and parts of the Western Cape have caused an increase in electrical faults.

Eskom’s announcement comes after the South African Weather Service issued a warning that heavy rains were expected to make landfall from Monday onwards.

Eskom also indicated that it would prioritise its response based on the size and duration of faults and urged its customers to log any faults by using the MyEskom app or call 0860 037 566.
Meanwhile, the City of Cape Town’s (COCT) Disaster Risk Management Centre has been on standby as several areas around Cape Town were flooded, highlighting the COCT’s service delivery when it comes to the maintenance and cleaning of drains, IOL reports
