During a media briefing on Friday, July 9, acting Health Minister Mmamoloko Kubayi-Ngubane announced that South Africans between 35-49 years of age will be allowed to register for their Covid-19 vaccination from July 15 while the Department of Health has set a target to start vaccinating this age group from August 1.

“On the 15th of July 2021, registration for persons of the age 35 to 49 will open, and we’ll start vaccination from 1 August 2021.

“We’ll [also] be starting our work to ensure the availability of human capital to vaccinate over weekends as well, and we believe this will increase the capacity and will increase the work that needs to be done in vaccinating. Our target for this is the first of August 2021,” she said.
