Ahoy landlubbers! Grab your chance to catch the Australian sail training ship, Young Endeavour, as it calls on Cape Town during its world voyage.

Gather round the scuttlebutt (that’s Pirate for ‘water cooler’) and lend me your ears! The ship is amidst a 12-month voyage to circumnavigate the world – its first in 20 years. During the 2015 voyage, the ship participated in the Anzac Centenary Commemorations in Gallipoli, Turkey in April; and represented Australia during the International Tall Ship Races in the North Sea. The vessel departed Rio de Janeiro on 24 October on its way to Cape Town, and after a well-deserved break in the Mother City will set sail for Fremantle in West Australia on 24 November to wrap up the journey.

About the ship
Young Endeavour is a square-rigged tall ship that is 44m long, with a 32m high mainmast and ten sails. The United Kingdom gave it to Australia in 1988 to commemorate 200 years since the first fleet of British ships arrived in Sydney.

Today, the ship is used to provide sail training to Australian youths through the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme. It takes many sea dogs to man this ship – 12 Royal Australian Navy personnel and 24 youth sailors. The Youth Scheme has been recognised internationally for over 25 years as a leader in its field. Since 1988, it’s provided beneficial training voyages for over 12,000 youths.
