A round-up of our style finds from earlier this week…

Ballo

SEE CLEARLY NOW WITH BALLO
Let’s hope that was the last cold front. We’re ready for the sun…
Founded in Cape Town in 2013, Ballo Eyewood is a super-slick manufacturer of wooden sunglasses. Each of the wide range of styles is available in your choice of imbuia, walnut or cherry wood, and lenses are all polarised.
They’ve got pretty great green credentials too – all the wood veneers are off-cuts from local furniture manufacturers and more than 40% of each frame is recycled paper material that is laminated for strength.
Cost R1 200

Dark-Horse

ENTER THE DARK HORSE
Dark Horse is made up of Cape Town duo Lisa du Plessis and Jarrad Nelson, an interior designer and architect respectively. They design and manufacturer a range of homeware and travel accessories from locally sourced materials.
We are seriously lusting after this industrial bench, made from powder-coated steel and Balau timber.
Cost R2 890

Bow-Peep

A LITTLE BOW PEEP
Bow Peep suits our spring mood perfectly. A handmade accessories and stationery line, this fun Cape Town brand was started in 2011 by Leila Badsha.
She makes earrings, rings, brooches and necklaces, but it’s her men’s accessories – including cufflinks, pocket squares and these bow ties – that we can’t get enough of.

Stockton-Goods

STYLE EPIPHANY
Sure, you could make notes on an app on your smartphone or tablet, but don’t you sometimes miss the good old-fashioned feel of scribbling in a notebook, with that quaint invention the pen?
Introducing the Epiphany by Stockton Goods – a beautiful leather-bound noteboook in which to record your latest flight of fancy. The vegetable-tanned leather is from KZN and the paper from a mill in Italy, but the craftsmanship is all Cape Town, baby.
Cost R250
