As lovely as the fellas are, sometimes the girls need a night off from beer and boerewors. So slap on some makeup, dust off those leopard print stilettoes and GHD your hair into oblivion. Tonight, we’re going big!

There is no better way to start a ladies night than barely-dressed men serving you food and alcohol, and lucky for you, Beefcakes caters to that specific need. Step into a stress-free and fun-filled alternate universe, decorated from floor to ceiling in 50s-inspired retro and brimming with possibilities for a little bit of naughtiness. Choose inside or outside seating, or if you’re feeling a little daring slip down the spiral staircase to the dungeon of fun where there are body shots aplenty waiting to be had.

Choose from an impressive list of cocktails, shots and wines to give you a little buzz and fill your belly with one of their delicious gourmet burgers ranging from R70 to R100. And now the fun begins.

There is a nightly drag show where a fabulous queen takes to the stage dressed to the nines to show us all how it’s really done – trust me, you won’t be disappointed. Every night is a spectacle themed to keep patrons on their toes. Tuesday’s Bitchy Bingo is a scream and a half while Party Pack Saturdays offers you VIP treatment with an exciting twist: it includes a round of cocktails and shooters, a scrumptious burger and of course the entertainment (let’s just say ‘party pack’ is a double entendre and leave it at that).

Doors open at 7 pm and the shows begin promptly at 8:30 pm, so you’ve got a bit of time to unwind and get your wine on before the shows start. There is a cover charge of R80 Monday – Thursday but it’s hiked up to R200 per person on Fridays (fret not, this includes dinner and a show) and R300 on Saturdays. Worth every penny.

Should you be so inclined, there is a string of bars and clubs in and around Green Point where you can dance off those burgers afterwards. Not even a block away you’ll find Crew, one of the haunts of Cape Town’s LGBT community; brimming with sexy, energetic men and women. The dancefloor and bar area downstairs are dotted with raised podiums where the lithe figures of hired dancers (almost as delicious as Beefcake’s offerings) shake their ‘groove thang’. Good old Cubana also makes an appearance, so you really have your pick when it comes to after-dinner entertainment.

Go on, treat yourself to the best buns in town. And the burgers aren’t bed either!
