There is no doubt that Cape Town is bursting with incredible art. From photography to sculptures, the city constantly showcases the very best of international and local artists. It is difficult not to find a gallery or exhibition here, and we wouldn’t want it any other way. Since you are so spoiled for choice, we have rounded up five awesome exhibitions for you to go see during the holiday period.
BO-KAAP IN CONVERSATION
With its brightly coloured houses and great food, the Bo-Kaap has always been a popular tourist spot. It is also one of the many places in Cape Town that is drenched in history and culture. Bo-Kaap in Conversation explores the community and how its social and cultural meaning has changed through time. The story is told through a video installation, that makes use of conversational narratives, images and sound. This exhibition is running until the end of the year, so make sure you see it before it’s over.

MOSES TLADI UNEARTHED
South Africa has produced a multitude of important artists, and Moses Tladi ranks high among them. He is regarded as the first black artist to have formally exhibited in the country. Despite being an accomplished landscape painter in the 1930s, his work has largely been forgotten after his death in 1959, until now. The Iziko Museum has curated 30 of his best artworks to remind the public of his great work, and to reintroduce him into South African art history where he belongs.
