A round-up of our style finds from earlier this week…

Xoologee

A XOOLOGEE STORY
Cath Price, the creator of Xoologee, is a Michaelis fine arts graduate who combines her love of animals and her ‘slight obsession’ with clay to create her fun, functional range of tableware.
Rhinos, pigs, rabbits and even polar bears all feature in her work, but we especially love this wallowing hippo bowl.

GEOMETRY AND CINDERWOOD
Founded by Jeanne Marais, a graphic designer turned aspiring horticulturist, Cinderwood terrariums showcase the wonders of the plant world, all contained within simple, geometric lines, perfectly sized for your table, shelf or windowsill.
Made from recycled glass and lead-free solder, the manufacturing is done by a small team in Khayelitsha, creating much needed work for the community.
This large cube comes with a chain and kit including pebbles and activated charcoal, a beautiful indoor organic feature for your home.

Milkshed

TREE-O FROM MILKSHED
Product designer Blaire Rieger founded Milkshed, a registered NPO, that transforms reclaimed wood and offcuts into handcrafted furniture pieces.
100% of the profits goes back to local communities and is used for social change. All products are made from locally sourced, reclaimed timber, and designs are inspired by the integrity of the material itself.
The Tree-O, much like an old English gentleman, looks perfectly dapper when donning a hat, coat and umbrella. It also politely holds a handbag, scarf and sun hat with elegance. What a winner.

Hoi-Ploy

LIGHTBULB MOMENT
Hoi P’loy is a vintage lighting company in Cape Town started by Ploy Phiromnam and Guy van der Walt. They’re known for their edgy vintage Edison bulbs and fabric-covered cables.
Thanks to this vertical spiral filament, we’re falling back in love with exposed bulbs.

Wiid

PULL UP A CHAIR AT WIID DESIGN
Wiid Design is a Cape Town design studio started by Laurie Wiid van Heerden. The idea is to hand-create products that are an interface between art and design.
We’d say he’s succeeded with these ultra-masculine swivel bar stools, manufactured from concrete, natural dark cork and powder-coated steel.
