I have always been a firm believer in work hard and play harder. If you put in the hours and work to achieve your goals, you should always take the time to pamper yourself and help your body unwind, recoup and rejuvenate. I had the very tough job of exploring the best spas and salons in Cape Town to give you my personal opinion on where next to splurge and treat yourself this season.

This week’s feature goes to…

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa

The 12 Apostles Hotel and Spa needs no introduction. From the picturesque location nestled between sea and mountain, to their fine dining and lavish suites, the 12 Apostles is a Cape Town gem. This spa is unlike any spa I have ventured to. With their immaculate spa facilities such as the hydrotherapy floatation pool, outdoor gazebos, traditional Arabic cleansing ritual Rasul chamber, tranquility lounge and the complimentary health bar buffet, this spa caters for all your pampering and relaxation needs.

The team are dedicated to restoring beauty and balance through individual treatments and spa journeys, personalised for each of their guests by their exceptionally skilled therapists. Their commitment to wellbeing focuses on holistic principles, combining ancient wisdom and modern expertise. Upon entering the spa, you are immediately transported, you can feel the relaxation wash over you. I arrived early for my treatment in order to make use of the spa facilities. The pools are set in a cave-like structure, taking you back to nature. I soaked in the salt pool then warmed up in one of the heated pools before drying off, enjoying some snacks at the buffet and heading into the private room for my treatment.

I experienced the B Harmonised treatment. A treatment designed to remove stress from the back, feet and scalp to align your mind and body in harmony. This unique massage incorporates meditation breathing, targeting the main stress areas of the body and works to release and relax not only the body but also the mind. The treatment begins with a welcoming foot ritual to set the tone for the session. The therapist specialises the treatment to your body and requirements, the hour soothes by and your body drifts into a lull of relaxation.
