Nothing beats a nice cold beer in the middle of Summer. Whether you are at a braai or in a pub, having a beer with friends just makes things better. Arguably the best place to have a beer is at a brewery. You get to appreciate the beer in a whole new way. Whether its getting information on how the beer was made, or enjoying perfectly compatible food, visiting a brewery is well worth it.

Here are five incredible breweries to visit in the Cape:

1 Darling Brew

A firm favourite on the local craft beer scene, Darling Brew offers you a chance to see where all the action happens while sipping on some of their fine beers. Located in Darling, the Darling Brew Microbrewery is a must, for beer enthusiasts. The tasting room overlooks the brewery where you can enjoy an interactive and fascinating beer tasting experience. 2 Devil’s Peak Brewing Company 

Devil’s Peak Beers are also named for where they are made  – at the foot of Devil’s Peak.  This is also where you’ll find their taproom. How  awesomely Capetonian is that? The taproom is a pub and restaurant which showcases the lastest creations from the brewery. They have a whole host of specials you can treat yourself too. Have a food and beer pairing, have a tasty meal or simply enjoy a pint while enjoying the breathtaking views of the mountain.

3 Jack Black Brewing Company 

Founded in 2007, Jack Black is one of the older more established craft beers on the scene. You can tour their breweries (through bookings) and see where the magic happens. If you are into a  beer adventure their taproom offers the perfect space for this.There are many great events that occur here, including live music, food trucks and quiz nights. There are also a selection of food to dig into while you enjoy your beer.

4 Woodstock Brewery 

Smack bang in the hustle and bustle of the city, you can can take a time out and enjoy a beer at the Woodstock Brewery taproom. There you will find the full Woodstock Brewery beers, organise a tour tasting or relax in the beer garden, drink in hand and overlook the working brewery.

5 Newlands Brewery 

You can’t mention brewery’s without mentioning newlands Brewery. As the oldest operating brewery on the African continent, it is a must. They brew nine of the country’s favourite beers and offer guided brewery tours and beer tastings that will make you see beer in a whole new light. History fused with modern techniques, samples of their oldest, freshest, finest beers all in the shadow of Table Mountain, what more could you ask for? Bookings are essential.
