The Western Cape is currently seeing a disturbing decrease in water levels. Our dams are quickly being depleted of this necessary resource to the extent that some experts have predicted that we only have about 130 days of water remaining.

If you’re still sceptical and think the situation isn’t as bad as the news is portraying it, take a look the video below. Shot by vlogger Nic Red, who won our #WhyILoveCTE video competition last year, the drone footage shows the Berg River, Voel Vlei, Theewaterskloof and Steenbras Dams over a 20-day period.

The sand patches and lowering water levels captured indicate the need for us Capetonians to start saving water – now.
