World Travel Market Africa (WTMA) is the continent’s foremost and only business to business (B2B) exposition for incoming and outgoing African travel and tourism markets.

This year, the Mother City is the proud host of this phenomenal occasion, with more than 500 travel industry professionals setting up shop at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 19-21 April.

Taking cues from the WTM flagship events WTM London and Arabian Travel Market in Dubai, the show gives its exhibitors the opportunity to score sales leads, introduce fresh products and create brand awareness. They can, in addition, analyse their competition, research their current market and initiate entry into new markets.

The attendance of over 150 members of the media allows them to attract press attention, as well as institute and nurture corporate relations. Media representatives, including writers and presenters from newspapers, magazines, blogs, television channels and radio stations, can in contrast gain access to the most recent findings and opinions of esteemed travel gurus.

On 19 April, WTMA hosted a Speed Networking session, a brand-spanking new initiative that offered exhibitors and visitors the chance to link up through sharing news about their present projects within one hour. Another highlight was the presentation by Euromonitor in the Outbound Conference Theatre, regarding dominant travel trends.

The following day, 20 April, will see even more affairs being held, including the African Responsible Tourism Awards and talks on the potential of sports tourism. If media staff are unable to make it to either of these, they can still stop by at the Press Lounge, a premium zone to used to exchange the insights gathered – which will be open throughout the duration of the fair.

Cape {Town} Etc will be present at the WTMA this week, so if you’re attending the expo, be sure to visit our stand and you may win a prize!
