A night of wining, dining and enjoying delicious fresh food is on the cards at Catharina’s at Steenberg this winter. Executive Chef Archie Maclean has introduced some contemporary classics and flavours to his winter menu – his dishes are made with fresh, local ingredients and prepared with modern flavour for an exciting taste on the tongue.

For starters, Catharina’s prawn and smoked salmon ravioli and rich lamb arancini are presented on the menu. The à la carte menu offers various other tempting starter options such as Saldanha Bay, freshly shucked to order oysters or the venison gratinata with king oyster mushrooms and artichoke hearts.

Discover the hearty flavours of Catharina’s mains with the slow cooked pork belly or the African Game. Grilled Impala loin, tomato and feta tortellini, dehydrated mushroom, sweet potato and rooibos puree, pickled baby beetroot, brocolini and a nutmeg jus will keep you satisfied and warm, while tantalising your taste buds with Chef Maclean’s artistic twist of flavours.

Unsurprisingly, Catharina’s new dessert menu is a sinful collection that will meet your every desire. You’ll struggle to choose just one with options like green apple parfait with gingerbread and butterscotch or coffee jivara mousse, peanut butter ice cream, Kahlua panna cotta and caramel popcorn. Maybe something more tart like the Chef’s cheese collection served with walnut fig salami, candied celery, mustard crackers and roast pear puree, or a classic selection of three seasonal sorbet scoops.

As well as a delectable à la carte winter menu, Catharina’s offers it’s guests a five-course tasting menu, enjoyed with five wines from the carefully selected wine list. The tasting menu of adventurous flavours such as smoked crocodile and baba ganoush costs R850 with wine pairing and R600 without. Enjoy both menus for lunch or dinner (or both).

Celebrate your Sunday’s at Catharina’s, where a buffet-style feast invites you to a large selection of starters, mains and desserts. There’ll be live music from 12h00 til 15h00.

Don’t forget to grab a glass of wine or bubbly from the Peacock Bar when you arrive and cosy up next to the fireplace.
