President Jacob Zuma has survived the vote of no confidence, conducted via secret ballot held this afternoon in Parliament.

A majority of 201 votes were needed to remove President Zuma from his position, but the results of the vote pointed to 198 MPs opting against the call to remove Zuma, while 177 voted for.

This is not the first motion for President Zuma’s removal in his position, and looking at the current state of national politics, it will likely not be the last.
