Multi-faceted development to create jobs in the city.
Harbour Arch, the city’s latest iconic mixed-use development, will take a decade to finish and will completely transform the foreshore precinct. Similarities have been drawn to Johannesburg’s Melrose Arch, another well executed mixed-use development.
At the media launch on Thursday morning, Wesgro’s CEO Tim Harris, said: “Today’s launch of the R10 billion Harbour Arch by the Amdec Group is another vote of confidence in Cape Town, and highlights how our CBD is probably the most functional and investable on the continent. Such a large development will provide a boost to our local economy and will add to the Mother City’s growing and iconic skyline. Modelled on the award-winning Melrose Arch mixed-use precinct in Johannesburg, this development will add much needed housing stock and job opportunities in central Cape Town”.
Two residential blocks comprising of 580 apartments, four motor dealerships, and a hotel tower will be present in Harbour Arch’s first development phase, housing a Marriott Hotel and Residence Inn by Marriot in the earmarked 5.8 hectare space.
Upon completion Harbour Arch will be the first and largest mixed-use development of its kind in central Cape Town.
