Cape Town producer Kay Faith’s debut release, In Good Faith, has been named in the New Artist Spotlight for January 2018.

Faith is the first female producer to be featured on the platform.

Her debut EP was released on 11 September 2017, and features locals hip-hop artists Uno July, Patty Monroe, Ginger Trill and Youngsta CPT.

“I am delighted to be getting the love I am getting from Apple Music. I have to say I never saw this coming but I am very excited that it is happening. Apple music is one of the biggest music streaming platforms in the world and the stamp of approval goes a long way in making sure that more people get to from my debut EP “In Good Faith”. Huge thanks to Apple Music,” Faith told IDM Mag.

Apple Music is one of the largest streaming platforms in the world. Each month the editors at Apple Music pick out world’s hottest emerging talent.

“I feel like I was born to hear things in a different way. I thank God for that,” she says on her Youtube channel. “I consider myself a silent partner in the SA hip hop industry. I don’t say much, I work until late, I post a few pictures, but I try and make my work speak for itself.”

Faith, real name Karien Barnard, hails from Knysna and attended The Cape Audio College in Observatory.

“A lot of people have come and gone from my life, but there has always been music,” she said. “I’m striving to be South Africa’s most prolific hip-hop engineer.”
