Five of the six prisoners who escaped from Pollsmoor Prison in Tokai, have been rearrested by police.

On Sunday, the group of prisoners forced opened bars on a window with a metal bar removed from a bed and escaped from the Medium B Section.

Police and the Department of Correctional Services launched a wide spread search for the convicts, five were rearrested on Monday and one is still at large.

According to officials, they are following leads and hope to have the remaining convict, who is serving a sentence for rape, back in prison soon.
