Just like that, Christmas 2014 is over. Now the build up begins, or rather, has already begun, for New Year’s Eve. If you’re still unclear what to do for it, consult with our Best NYE Parties in Cape Town guide.
Cape Town’s most expensive purchase during the festive season would have to be the new home of local billionaire Patrice Motsepe, who now owns a R69m property in Bishopscourt. The house is equipped with basically everything from a wine cellar to cigar lounge. Patrice donated half of his wealth to charity nearly two years ago, which is very, very cool. Read more about the property here.
Local news has it that there was going to be a Kristen Stewart movie shot here in Cape Town called The Big Shoe, but an altercation occurred between film makers of the movie and the South African government. It is unclear what the altercation was about, but the new Arts & Culture minister Nathi Mthetwa apparently had something to do with it. My guess is that he watched the Twilight movies. Read more about that here.
Keep an eye open for our feature on the Elephants Eye Cave coming later today, which we explored yesterday, sunburn and all.
Lastly, how is this for great news: it’s the last Monday of 2014. Enjoy!
Cheers,
Justin
