Cape Town’s art and culture scene is making strides, from the opening of the Zeitz MOCAA, to the trendy No. 5 on Hudson gallery. The newly opened Norval Foundation has creatives and artists turning their heads.

The Norval foundation opened its doors to the public in April in Steenberg, Tokai. The gallery is composed of South African and international visual art pieces in varying mediums. It offers a multi-sensory experience with the internal gallery, outside amphitheatre and sculpture garden. Visitors can enjoy the restaurant, Skotnes, which offers traditional local cuisine with a modern twist that merges art and food. The restaurant is headed by Primary Eatery’s previous top chef, Phil de Villiers and promotes the use of local suppliers.

Founded by the Norval family, the gallery aims to promote access to arts and culture, sustain the natural environment and increase awareness for local art. The museum was constructed in an environmentally conscious method to reduce its footprint.
