Snow Report SA predicted widespread snow across the Western Cape’s highest peaks and snow in the Ceres area, and it has arrived. Snow was even predicted to dust the tops of Cape Town’s pride and joy, Table Mountain. Although there are no reports of snow on the iconic wonder, the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is closed due to adverse weather conditions.

“Temperature at the top is cold, wind strength is strong, visibility zero,” the service said. Snow fell in Matroosberg near Ceres, and also Sutherland in the Northern Cape.

Snow Report SA also reported bad driving conditions, “Roads difficult to navigate this morning between Hermanus and Caledon. Please be careful if you are driving in areas affected by snow or rain.”

Other areas that have experienced snow fall include Villiersdorp, the Swartberg Mountains, Graaf Reinet, Worcester and Swellendam.
