The Diamond Works is the only Tanzanite demonstration in the southern hemisphere.

Beneath the surface of the African soil lie the richest treasures and gems known to man.

For years diamonds have been coveted and have gained a reputation for pioneering an entire industry; putting Africa on the map for highest quality producing diamonds in the world. But in 1967, the gem industry saw the birth of something new – Tanzanite.

In celebration of African heritage and true beauty, The Diamond Works extends appreciation to tanzanite. Birthright to Tanzania and found at the majestic foothills of the Kilimanjaro, lies the only source of tanzanite in the world known to man. This limited source renders tanzanite 1000 times rarer than diamonds.

Compounded by its exceptional rarity, tanzanite’s exclusively African heritage and the alluring narrative of its discovery have proved to be a precious heirloom with love from the African continent. Resembling colours that waft over the Indian Ocean, tanzanite is uniquely trichroic, radiating three different colours from blue, violet hues and burgundy.

The geological birth of tanzanite has been described as a geological phenomenon, giving rise to tanzanite’s unparalleled scarcity. A gem so rare, known to be limited to a single generation.

In appreciation of a rare gem, The Diamond Works tells the historic tanzanite tale, demonstrating the science of tanzanite polishing and the craft of transforming a tanzanite crystal to the most elegant tanzanite jewellery pieces for a love at first sight.
